For many years the need was felt among rabbi’s serving progressive, reform and liberal congregations across Europe, to create a structure that would bind us together and that would support us. For many years ad-hoc committees have organized rabbinic meetings for European rabbis, but an own organization never saw the light. In the spring of 2016 the ERA was officially formed. The ERA is meant to be an addition for supporting rabbis working in Europe and serving EUPJ communities and Institutions, but will not interfere with the work of local rabbinic groupings.
The ERA is there to give a rabbinic voice in Europe on current issues
The ERA is there to support our members professionally, for example by organizing rabbinic Kallot (study events)
The ERA will work closely together with the European Beth Din
